The Profitmart Experiment

I’ve decided to spruce up the Profitmart page by adding some bonus products. I didn’t really want to write them myself so I thought I’d see what kind of PLR and MRR products I could dig up.

MRR books are ebooks that can be resold for as much as you want. PLR books are similar but also allow you to rewrite,  reformat them and claim full ownership. There are a huge number of these products available for rock bottom prices and varying levels of quality.

I started out by doing a Google search for “dog training PLR”. This led me to a number of websites with PLR dog training books. I guess it is a pretty mature niche. I spent about $15 total on various products and picked out the ones I thought were reasonable. Fortunately most of them came with ebook cover images and sales pages to help sell them. I scaled the cover images in Photoshop and wrote up a bit of a bonus section at the top of the SitStayFetch page. I had to pull out my best K-tel/Ronco writing style to whip this one off. It’s nothing amazing but I think it’s good enough to give it a shot.

Now at least I have a fighting chance against some of those other ads.

Here are the stats from my first set of ads:

The top one is the clear winner with 1.4% Click Through Rate (CTR). That means that 1.4% of the people who saw the ad clicked on it. Reasonable results considering the other ads I was up against. if I raised my bid price I could get higher positioning (my average ad position in the test was 5.6) but I would also be spending more for each click on my ad. Being near the bottom and getting less clicks shouldn’t adversely affect my conversion rate (the percentage of people that buy after clicking on my ad). In fact being lower down will screen out the looky-loos and probably increase my conversion ratio. The trade off is that it will take longer to get the same number of clicks and my CTR will go down. Having a low CTR affects your quality score which then affects your bid price. It’s a bit of a balancing act all around.
