The Profitmart Experiment was a 30 day personal challenge to make non-membership affiliate income with a Profitmart site. The experiment was completed on November 15th, 2007. I have reversed the order of the posts so that you can read them in sequential order. (normally blog posts are listed with the most recent one first)
There is some great information here for both existing and prospective Profitmart members. I recommend reading the posts in order to get the most benefit out of it. Be sure to read the comments as well. There’s some good stuff in there.

Today begins the grand experiment. I’m giving myself 30 days to make affiliate income with my Profitmart site.
For those of you unfamiliar with Profitmart I’ll do a quick overview. Profitmart is a turnkey website creator that allows it’s owner to build a simple website that is monetized with Clickbank, Amazon, Ebay (affiliate income) and Adsense (ad income). Profitmart members can also make a monthly income from signing up other members. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m going to start this project by laying out my main objectives.
- Find a niche to promote
- Create a Profitmart site around that niche
- Drive traffic to the site
- Make money!
But before I get right into that I want to take a quick look at some of the technical issues that I’m going to run into. If this was just a hosting account I could pretty much create whatever I want, but I want to do this in a way that someone without a lot of technical chops can recreate using the tools provided. I put together a flash file last night recording my techniques and thoughts while exploring a niche for the Profitmart site. This was put together with a free tool called wink that allows you to record and annotate screen captures. This is my first project using this tool and the file might be wider than your screen. You may need to scroll a bit to see the edges. Read the rest of this entry »

I was messing around with some ideas last night and I came up with some interesting techniques that might work for this project. I’ll be talking about those over the next couple of days. Today I want to take a look at the tools we have to work with on our Profitmart page and explore some landing page objectives.
Before I get started I’d like to take a moment to blog some general thoughts about this project. It’s hard to believe but this is the first blog I’ve ever started that I actually did some regular posting in. Setting a public deadline is a really good way to get your ass in gear.
Am I going to be successful at making affilate income on my Profitmart site? I honestly don’t know. Will this project be a waste of time if I don’t make it? Absolutely not. I’ve already learned new stuff and I’m guessing you have as well if you watched the link in yesterday’s post. I have no doubt that I could make this work eventually, but any internet marketing venture takes trial and error to see if the niche is going to make money for you. Failure is an integral part of the process and you have to be prepared to fail a good portion of the time. I saw a great movie last week called “Meet The Robinsons”. I thought it was going to be another cookie cutter “try to be hip” animated film but I really enjoyed it. One of the driving forces in it was a quote from Walt Disney which seems appropriate here.
“Keep moving forward”. Read the rest of this entry »

Today I want to look at a simple html technique that will allow me to put someone elses sales page onto my Profitmart site. This technique uses an html method called “iframes”. Read the rest of this entry »

Since I only have 30 days to start generating some income from this Profitmart site I want to get something up and running as soon as possible. The catch is that I don’t want to put just anything up. I need a site that makes sense and looks finished. That doesn’t mean this has to be an authority site on dog training. As long as the site looks complete I would feel comfortable launching it. I don’t want a bunch of “under construction” links or stuff that looks like it doesn’t belong to this niche. Read the rest of this entry »

The plan for today was to use standard Profitmart clickbank feed to quickly generate a listing of doggie related products.
Of course there’s a catch. A few actually. Read the rest of this entry »

I decided that to make this Profitmart site look a bit more professional I wanted to put an image into the header. The tricky part about this is that I want the image to span the entire header and I want some text to go in front of it. If I just stick an image in the header the text would show up below or beside it which isn’t the look I’m going for.
Here are the steps I took: Read the rest of this entry »

The one thing I still need to do is fix up my main default Profitmart page. That’s the one that people will land on if they just go to the main site. At the end of the day I’m probably not going to send people directly to this page (workathomejobs4me = dog training?) but I’m going to do this anyway just so the site looks more complete.
There’s one small problem. I don’t know the first thing about dog training. I’ve never even owned a dog. I love dogs I’ve just never owned one. If I did I’d probably let it walk all over me. I could look for free articles on dog training but I want to write something that fits my site.
I’m going for the gusto here and trying to compete directly with the top dog training sites. I may crash and burn but I’ll give it a good shot first.
Time to do some research. Read the rest of this entry »
